What Is Included in MindTheGapps? Full Package Contents
MindTheGapps follows a strict "less is more" philosophy: it ships only what's needed to make Google services work, and leaves the rest to you. Here's what's actually inside the package.
Core components (always included)
- Google Play Store — install and update any app.
- Google Play Services — the framework nearly every Google-dependent app relies on.
- Google Services Framework (GSF) — device registration, push notifications, and sync backbone.
- Google account manager & sync — contacts, calendar, and app-data synchronization.
- Setup / login components needed to add your Google account during first boot.
What is intentionally left out
Unlike larger GApps packages, MindTheGapps does not preload the full suite of Google apps. You won't find Gmail, Maps, Photos, YouTube, Chrome, or the Google app baked in as system apps. This keeps the package small and reduces conflicts with your ROM.
Why minimal is better for custom ROMs
- Smaller system footprint — fits ROMs with tight system partitions.
- Fewer conflicts — less chance of clashing with ROM built-ins.
- Cleaner experience — you install only the Google apps you want.
- Faster setup — fewer components to initialize on first boot.
Adding the rest yourself
Because the Play Store is included, you can install everything else in seconds. After first boot, open the Play Store and grab Gmail, Maps, Photos, YouTube, Chrome, or any other app — as user apps, which is easier to update and uninstall than baked-in system apps.
Summary
MindTheGapps gives you the essential Google plumbing — Play Store, Play Services, GSF, and account sync — and nothing you didn't ask for. It's the reason the package is trusted for LineageOS and lightweight AOSP builds.
